Thai Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Laughing Gas Sellers on Khao San Road Raid Thai Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Laughing Gas Sellers on Khao San Road Raid

Bangkok—

On June 6th, 2024, at 9:00 PM, Thai authorities conducted a field inspection on Khao San Road in Bangkok, targeting illegal sellers of laughing gas balloons and undocumented immigrant workers.

Officials reported that a bar at the end of Khao San Road had been advertising and distributing laughing gas balloons to tourists. During the raid, officers confiscated balloons and cans of laughing gas, and detained 19 immigrant workers to verify their legal status.

Thai authorities disclosed that they had previously taken legal action against these illegal laughing gas vendors in February. Despite this, the vendors continued to sell laughing gas balloons to youths and tourists.

The unidentified bar owners allegedly used immigrant workers to sell the balloons, attempting to evade police detection. The owners denied any involvement, placing the blame on the workers.

Nevertheless, the police plan to pursue legal action against the bar owners, as they are responsible for their employees’ actions.
